We are looking for soenone to take over the Treasurer post from September '23.
Our present Treasurer has been in post for 9 years and previously held the position of Chair for 11 years. We think he has “done his bit” and deserves to retire!
Please contact Chair, Margaret Morrison, or Treasurer Alan Summers if you could possibly consider volunteering.
If your daughter /grand-daughter is in Girlguiding it would be a great opportunity to assist with our efforts to maintain the Halls.
We participated at the Helensburgh Community event on the 4th March at Hermitage Academy, co-ordinated by the Rotary Club.
Thanks to everyone that supported the event!
Contrary to previous years, during the Summer, there have been fortnightly meetings of Guides and Brownies.
The new Session of Girl Guiding starts officially this month:
> Rangers on Wednesday 17th August
> Guides on Wednesday 17th August
> 1st Brownies on Monday 5th September
> 2nd Brownies on Tuesday 16th August
> 4th Brownies on Thursday 25th August
> 9th Brownies on Tuesday 6th September
> 6th Rainbows on Tuesday 6th September
Please contact Alison Ringrose, District Commisioner, for more information about the units.

We raised £750 in aid of Ukraine. We had 17 tables taken, and the Trefoil Guild served teas and coffeees and sold home baking.
The money has been sent to the official Ukranian Disaster Fund, hopefully to be allocated to vulnerable Guides but certainly to children.
The Rangers and Guides sold raffle tickets and supervised the Count the Sweeties Jar!
The Bar-B-Q was also very popular!
Many thanks to everyone who supported us.
Margaret Morrison

Table Top Sale
We are planning a table top sale on April 16th.
Anyone interested in taking a table, @ £10 per table, please contact Alison Ringrose: tabletophelensburgh@gmail.com
Other Information
A new noticeboard is being planned and the new railings and gate are under assessment.
The Halls are 'Covid Secure' and are available to hire most days of the week.
Recently the committee repainted the interior of the Jubilee Hall.
We would gladly welcome more volunteers to join the Committee to assist in minor maintenance of Halls and grounds.
At present we have 2 Rainbow units, 4 Brownie units, a Guide unit and Rangers re-starting.
However we are sorely in need of more Leaders to assist in maintaining our numbers and we do have waiting lists for the Units.
Please contact the Alison Ringrose or Girlguiding Scotland if you could possibly volunteer.
We held our Annual General Meeting back in October 2021.

The 2nd Helensburgh Brownies celebrated their 100th Anniversaries by planting a tree in Hermitage park in the Autumn.
The Halls have been brought up to the standard of being “Covid Secure“ and were being used before the recent Lockdown.
We are expecting to reopen on the 26th April and function according to the restrictions which are applicable at the time.
We held our Annual General Meeting over Zoom, back in September 2020.
In addition, our groups have been meeting over Zoom during lockdown, and we continue to work on plans to reopen the halls.
We continue to follow the Covid 19 Secure Guidelines as per the Scottish Government and Scottish Girlguiding advice.
More details to follow.
An album of 40 photos from Netherurd and Catterburn has been produced which I hope everyone will be able to view in due course.
We were fortunate to have had our Celebrations last year, not only because of COVID-19 but also unfortunately Netherurd is now going to have to be closed permanently.
We must have been one of the last groups to have enjoyed our time there.
Our next meeting will be our AGM on the 30th of September. More details to follow.
Helensburgh Friends of Guiding celebrated its Centenary in 2019.
To mark the occasion we sponsored 63 Brownies, Guides, Rangers, Leaders and Trefoil to a Weekend at Netherurd, and 25 Rainbows plus Leaders to a Sleepover at Catterburn.
Netherurd, in the ScottishBorders, is the Scottish Guiding’s home from home Adventure Centre. It is an Outdoor Centre open to Girlguiding and outside users eg. Scouts, Schools, Churches. All who took part enjoyed a wonderful time. They participated in Night walks, Geocaching, Zip-wiring, Archery, and Campfire. They also found time to build a bear, a crown, cakes and party.
Catterburn is the County’s Campsite, with a Brownie House and Bothy, near Croftsmie. The Rainbows took part in Have Adventure and Camp Skills Builder from the new programme, had a Treasure Hunt, singing, and Party.
Naturally we had a Birthday cake too. p>
Brownies from Helensburgh, Arrochar, Rhu, Rosneath, Cove, and Kilcreggan attended the traditional party – lasting 100 minutes – on Saturday, June 14.
Girlguiding members aged seven to ten were joined at the Cove Burgh Hall by ‘VIP visitors’ Eileen Martin, deputy Scottish chief commissioner, and Maxine Gow, county commissioner (Dunbartonshire).
